PLEASE NOTE
Change of Service

PLEASE NOTE:

Our worship Service Time is at 9:00 am.  Sunday School and Adult Bible Class begin at about 10:20 am.
Semi-Annual Meeting of the Congregation

The meeting will take place in the Bible Class hour on January 15th.  We lay out plans for the coming months, formally take in new members, review our finances and discuss any other issues relating to Good Shepherd.
Bible Classes

NEW SMALL GROUPS--The second semester begins on January 4th!  Please make a resolution to attend a small group.  It is critical to our faith to stay strong and oten in God's Word.  Small Group offers that opportunity in addition to fellowship.

The Wednesday Group begins a si session series called "Off the Edge" which is a look at faith, science and the future.  Faith on Edge tracks the progress of science and people's fascination and fears about science.  Each session introduces a contemporary topic, summerizes what science has to say about it, and then provides Biblical answers and guidance so that you can face the future with the wisdom and confidence that only God can provide.

This will take us up to Lent when the group will move to Thursday nights (due to mid-week Lent worship services).  Then the next topic will be They Testify of Me.  This series looks at how the Old Testament pointed ahead to Jesus through people/thinks that represented the coming Messiah.

The Thursday Morning Group will study the Engage series because it was so well received by the other group.  A short video introduces a topic like worry, fear, and bad news and shows us how to deal with it in a faith-filled way.

The Adult Education on Sunday will be starting a new topic after the first of the year.

Bible Basic Class--One of the best resolutions you can keep is to GET CLOSER TO JESUS.  The Bible Basic Class can guarantee that.  It will answer all your questions and show you things you never knew about God, the Bible, Jesus Christ and Christian living.  The day and time of the class will be determined by those who want to attend.  Talk to Pastor.

There are several activities being planned for the women this year.  The first activity the Altar Guild will sponsor is a get-together of the  women of the congregation would might be interested in a Christian book club or movie club to read a book or see a movie and discuss it together as well as having a time of fellowship.  The kickoff meeting will be on February 11.  On March 10th Altar Guild will host a tea for all of the women in the congregation.   On Oct. 20th we will host another one day women's retreat with a guest speaker.  On Dec. 8th we want to have an fellowship for Advent with carols and scripture reading as well as dessert.  We are also talking about restarting Secret Sisters again.  There will be NO GIFTS, just send cards and provide prayer and support.  The first meeting to select your Secret Sister will be May 5th.  This will run for a year and then we will reveal who we are the following May 2013.  Watch for more information about these various activities.  We would like to have a good participation in these various activities.  We hope you will mark your calendars and plan to attend some or all of these depending on your interest.  If you have other interest that you would like the women to get involved in, please let Daune Belongia or Sharon Kerst know.

On-line Daily Devotions

WHATABOUTJESUS.COM, the website with daily devotions, Questions & Answers about Jesus and religion, personal Bible studies and much more is a real blessing for anyone--from those who know nothing about Christianity to those who have been lifelong believers.  Of special interest is the daily devotion you can have emailed to your home or office.  These short simple devotions are a great way to start the day.

WELS.net offers free e-mail subscriptions to a variety of devotions, prayers, news items, regularly published newsletters, and e-mail discussion. groups.  See a listing online at www.wels.net/jump/subscribe.  Select a topic, then visit the page and use the "Subscribe" box in the upper right of the Web page to enter your email address.
Adult Choir

Choir will be held at 11:30 on Sundays after Bible Class.  They are preparing for Christmas.  Talk to Julie Mueller for details.
Christian Books

We were just given a whole set of books about various Christian topics, like justification, the end times, the Holy Spirit, and more.  I would urge you to try to read one book a month.  You will definitely be blessed.  Samples are above the boxes; the rest in the library.  We were also given a dozen pieces of Jerry Garcia numbered limited edition artwork.  We need to determine the best way to market these.  If you have an idea, see Ron Kerst.  The art is in Pastor's office if you would like to see it.
Church Bowling
At Granada lanes, there's a 'church challenge' bowling event monthly on the 2nd Saturday.  Five bowlers are needed; cost is $10.00/person (3 games & shoes).  Talk to Jeaniece James.
Treat & Flower Schedules

If youl are interested in bringing treats on Sunday, talk to Julie Mueller.  It is an easy thing to do and everyone enjoys the treats after the services.  Sharon Kerst provides the flowers each Sunday.  If you want to donate money to help with the cost of flowers, a flower chart is on the bulletin board.  (Maybe you would like to honor a special occasion like a birthday or wedding annivesary by bringing flowers).  We will note the special occasion for the flowers in the bulletin if you would like.

And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.
